Renal & Abdominal Ultrasound

These exams are non-invasive diagnostic procedures used to evaluate blood flow in the arteries supplying your kidneys (renal arteries) and intestines (mesenteric arteries). These studies help us identify and monitor conditions that can significantly affect your health, including renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the kidney arteries) and mesenteric ischemia (reduced blood flow to the intestines).

ON THE DAY OF YOUR PROCEDURE, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

  • Have nothing to eat or drink six hours prior to your test.

  • Do not smoke or chew gum six hours prior to your test.

  • Limit carbonated beverages the day prior to your test.

  • Take two Gas-X tablets two hours prior to your test.

It is very important you follow these steps in order for your test to be successful. If you do not follow these instructions fully, it may require us to reschedule your test.
